Release Update - August 2026

New Features & Improvements

Insights has released a set of features to better support coordinators and faculty in long running assessment activities, such as program reviews, program accreditation, and regional accreditation self-studies. These features create more flexibility for faculty participation, better structure and visibility for coordinators, and add email notifications to help keep participants on track. The release includes the following new features:

  • Generate professional looking reports for assessment cycles, including the ability to create custom headers with logos and images.
  • More structure and support in assessment plans.
    • Support for rich text in assignment descriptions in assessment plans and expanded character limit so coordinators can create assignments with the same parameters as in Canvas.
    • Links can be embedded in instructions for measures and responses in assessment plans so authors can link to accreditor notes, campus policies, etc.
    • Coordinators can set due dates on measures, findings, and recommendations so people assigned know when their contributions are due (or past due).
    • Qualitative measures in assessment plans can include structured questions to allow coordinators to offer better guidance on how to complete the measure or to assign complex responses, each of which can require a different set of evidence be uploaded.
    • Authors of qualitative measure responses can save their work as a draft, so they can iterate on the response.
    • Reviewers and approvers of qualitative measures can see a history of published responses.
    • Enable coordinators to view, add, and remove evidence in qualitative measures.
  • Send automated notifications to people when their measures are coming due and reminders when they are past due.
  • Enable coordinators to bulk finalize results for faculty who were not part of an assessment plan or who did not finalize their scores, and track faculty participation.
  • Support for Course Copy (requires a feature flag is enabled).
    • Allow faculty to flag their course as “copied course/content created via import course” to prevent duplicate outcomes in sections of the course.
    • Notify faculty of new outcomes or new versions of outcomes if Course Copy is turned on.
  • Better tracking and visibility of activity in assessment plans.
    • Show what is complete and what is next due for Course Review in the Institutional Statistics Report in Redshift to enable better planning, including finalizations by course/term and percent of sections with reflections and action items completed.
    • Allow coordinators to track and see changes to qualitative measures during a cycle to help with collaboration and correcting narrative elements.
    • Enable authors of measures to see the history of how responses have evolved over time.
    • Show the status of measures and data collection in an assessment plan to help coordinators understand the current status of a plan.
    • Give coordinators multiple ways to selecting and presenting data in assessment plan results.
  • New Course Central features (requires course central feature flag enablement):
    • Faculty can include an approved rating scale in finalizations done using Learning Mastery Gradebook to enable consistent data interpretation regardless of how scores were produced. Coordinators can also include a ‘binary-baseline’ scale option.
    • Coordinators can schedule auto-finalization of Canvas results for faculty who were not part of an assessment plan or who did not finalize their scores. This can be set as a default at the institution level, and program coordinators can override it for their departments. (Requires additional auto-finalization feature flag enablement.)
