Release Update - Fall 2025

Summary of new features and bug fixes.

New Features & Improvements

Introducing Course Central!

Coming soon! The faculty dashboard is getting a major upgrade — meet Course Central, your new hub for course collaboration and review. It’s where faculty and course captains work together to streamline assessment and close the loop on course improvement.

For overworked Program and Assessment Coordinators — these are the features you’ve been waiting for.

Course Central brings everything into one place with guided workflows that make it easier for faculty to complete their reviews and for coordinators to manage cycles and templates — making course review smarter, smoother, and far less manual.

Highlights include:

  • ✳️ New Course Coordinator role
  • 🔁 Management of course review cycles
  • 🧩 Reflection templates for faculty
  • 💬 Faculty ability to share reflections & action items
  • 🔗 Import scores from third-party systems
  • ✅ Workflow to finalize scores
  • 👥 Easier bulk management of users and roles

With the new Course Coordinator role, admins can assign course captains or senior faculty to oversee assessment and course review across multiple courses — helping distribute the workload more effectively. Coordinators can create standardized reflection templates, while faculty can share reflections and action items to support continuous improvement.

Faculty will also have greater control over their data — choosing whether to pull results from the Learning Mastery Gradebook, a signature assignment, or upload their own results data. A new “finalize scores” workflow clearly signals when their part of the process is complete.

And this is just the beginning. Next year, Insights will expand Course Central to include course evaluation and round-trip integration with Coursedog and CourseLeaf — advancing our mission to connect Canvas with the rest of your academic toolkit and give you a complete view of your curriculum’s lifecycle.

These features will be released in the next few weeks. Your CSM will be reaching out soon with invitations to upcoming Lunch-and-Learn events where you can see Course Central in action. Watch this page for more detailed descriptions of features and launch details!

Bug Fixes

Rounding miscalculation in “Score Average %”
Releasing the week of November 4... The Insights team recently discovered a bug that was causing a rounding miscalculation of score averages. Within the Insights Results table in Redshift, the “Percentage” field calculates data that feeds “Score Average %” in the Insights dashboard. This “Percentage” field was rounding averages in a depressed way, causing the resulting data to show lower average scores than it should. The underlying results data in Redshift was not impacted; this was a bug in the rounding calculation only. The Insights team has fixed the calculation and corrected the data in the “Percentage” field in the Production environment. The Beta environment still shows the miscalculated data; however, this will self-correct during migration to Production.

If you have not been using the “Score Average %” button in the dashboard, you will not see any impact. Your school is likely in this category as we estimate that less than two percent of customers are utilizing this feature. If you have been using score averages in your results data, you will notice that the current results are presenting higher than before. These are the corrected results.

If your results are unpublished, there is nothing you need to do–the correction has been made for you. If you have published results using score averages, we recommend republishing as published results are a snapshot in time. If you have any questions or concerns about this bug fix, please reach out to your CSM.
