New Features & Improvements
More Award Options for Program Creation
Creating programs is more flexible now. field that was previously Program Award Type has been split into two selections: Program Level (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate etc.) and Program Type (Arts, Science, Fine Arts etc.). Additionally, there are two new text fields, Degree Name and Abbreviation, which are now required. Degree name will be automatically created as ‘Program Level of Program Type in Discipline’. This enables coordinators to align programs precisely with the degrees offered by their institutions.
NOTE: Degree Name and Abbreviation are only required for programs created after this release. Programs created prior to this release will have their previous award types mapped to the new award types. For example, if an existing program had the Program Award Type defined as Bachelor of Science it will be mapped to the new Program Level of Bachelor and Program Type of Science.
Outcome Archiving
This feature enables coordinators to archive individual outcomes when they are no longer in use. Archiving prevents the unused outcomes from appearing in the official outcome listing for a course and from being synced to future instances of that course in Canvas. Coordinators can also schedule the archiving of outcomes in bulk using the provided upload file.
Outcome Auto-Approval
Coordinators can now bulk upload both new and versioned outcomes with an ‘auto-approve’ flag set in the upload file. This is a significant time saver for coordinators as they previously had to approve each individual outcome. With this feature, the uploaded outcomes are automatically approved as new or a version for a selected term, based on the coordinator's definition in the upload file.
