For institutions that need to directly assess either the ILO or PLO statements within the insights tools, we can now sync those outcomes directly with course shells through our curriculum mapping tool set.
PSLO and ISLO Sync with Course Shells
To sync your ILOs or PLOs with specific courses, you will first need to access the Curriculum Map from your left-hand navigation.

Once there, you can narrow down the map by using the filtering options at the top of the page. In this case, Bachelor of Arts in English was selected. This will provide a view of all the courses that comprise that program's composition. The Learning Outcome Type selected is PLO. This will allow you to sync PLOs for those courses in the chosen program.
While the examples use the tool using PLOs, the same steps can be used to sync ILOs from Insights. To sync ILOs, you will need to select ILO for Learning Outcome Type.
Select Courses and PLOs to Sync
To sync a course with either a PLO or ILO, you will need to select the cell where the course and the PLO or ILO intersect. In this case, the PLO "English B.A - PLO1" will be synced with the course ART101.
Once the cell is selected, click on Review Mapping Settings.
The modal window for Mapping Details will display. To sync the PLO to the course, check the box Auto-sync PLO to new Canvas instances of <course code> and click on Save Mapping.
Once the sync is enabled, you must trigger a live event within your Canvas course shell for the PLO or ILO to appear in your "Outcomes" in Canvas.
Trigger a live event: Commonly, you could trigger a live event in your Canvas Shell by "Publishing" the course. Consult with your Customer Success Manager for more details.
Once the outcome is in your Canvas Shell, it can be added to rubrics to create assignments to directly assess that outcome.
Syncing multiple ILOs or PLOs
If you are syncing multiple PLOs or ILOs to a course, you can see what other LOs are auto-synced by expanding the chevron below the "Auto-synch with..." check box on the Mapping Details modal window:
