Course Outcome Analysis
The Course Outcomes Analysis screen currently reflects a Coordinator’s dashboard and is convenient to track and monitor students' performance on course outcomes over time.
Features of this interactive graph are defined below.
- Outcome Quality and Unapproved Outcomes:
- The percentage reflects the amount of CLOs that meet quality criteria, as designated by the Coordinator (see Quality Check feature details below).
- Coordinators can also see the number of unapproved outcomes (this indicates there are new outcomes in need of approval or categorization (e.g., version, variations, private).
- Hover over any point on the graph and a window will show detailed outcome information and specific results.
- Filters can be applied to focus on specific programs and associated outcomes, providing valuable insights and information.
Review Learning Outcomes
Coordinators will manage essential outcome tasks (review, approve, categorize, quality check and more); and use filters (Course and/or Outcomes) to review the learning outcomes according to the filter selections. Outcomes are displayed below and categorized according to the course they are associated with.
Coordinators can then further manage and analyze CLOs, including checking their quality, approving them (or setting them as versions, variants, or private), and aligning them to Canvas rating scales.
Quality Check Learning Outcomes
Coordinators can define criteria that support quality authored CLOs to ensure they are measuring what is intended, according to institutional standards.
Below the learning outcomes filter, go to the Quality Check toggle on the right and click to enable this feature (green check indicates the feature is turned on).
Enabling the Quality Check feature highlights key words from your institution's learning taxonomies and cognates to help coordinators verify that these outcomes align with institutional standards.
Edit Quality Check
Assessment Coordinators can set and edit quality settings. Click Edit Quality Settings.
Assessment Coordinators and Program Coordinator roles can enable the Quality Check feature for analysis.
Edit Quality Settings is restricted Assessment Coordinators only.
A modal window Edit Quality Settings for Learning Outcomes displays. Assessment Coordinators can alter these fields to limit title and description length and taxonomy thresholds. When quality criteria is entered, click Save to enable.

All course learning outcomes must be approved in order to map them in the Curriculum Map or Assessment Planning features of Insights.
